Total Crash only a minute after starting
Decided to play some Guild Wars again fresh off my WoW addiction >.<, but anyways, about midway through my character creation my computer just totally shuts down, though it might be power or I accidentally pulled a plug so I go back in and it happens again mid-character creation, later I quickyl created a character and got to the loading screen and it crashes, haven't gotten to move or play the game at all so far. I'm pretty sure I played this awhile ago without any errors (before expansion packs with a ATI X-850 and AMD 64 +3200) so I'm sort of thinking it's a GFX driver. I can provide any more info that you need....
- Offering any text error pop-up box information that we may view None, total shutdown with no warning - An explaination of what you were doing at the time of the problem Shut downs occur during character creation and when I was loading (downloading content) entering first area, haven't been able to even play because of the crashes - System specifics Custom-made GFX-Nvidia 7800 GTX (Driver 84.21) Sound Card-Audigy 2 ZS (mention this b/c I just installed it last Wed., but haven't had any problems w/it) CPU- AMD 64 +3800 (or +4000, sort of forget >.<) RAM-1024 MB (forget exact type) MOBO- A8N SLI-Deluxe - Any attempts to fix it yourself None so far As an aside, are Prophecies and Factions two totally separate expansion packs from the original game? |

What version of direct x are you running? Could be a possible problem. But not if your computer completely shuts down.

Try installing Direct X 9c (April update) - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Then go here and install any updates for your sound card - http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/su.asp (This link works like windows update but it's for creative labs sound cards). You may also want to try uninstalling and reinstalling GuildWars. |

I dowloaded the April DX9c, I have the current sound drivers, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, still the same problem, after talking with the tech support it seems to be a problem with my RAM, I ran Prime 95 and had the exact same shutdown only a few minutes after I began the stress test. Sooo, any suggestions for RAM if I buy new ones, I'm looking to get 2GB total, but whatever works.

You should probably find out what type of RAM you have, and if it's supported by your motherboard, check the BIOS settings for it. Also if you have the wrong or unsupported RAM type for your motherboard, replace with the correct type, and adjust BIOS settings correctly.
